Chiro For Kids
When I am going through a consultation with a new patient one of the questions I ask is:
“how long do you think this has been going on for?”
Usually people take a second to reflect, having never really given it much thought, and typically their answer is “oh years ago.” Some even recount times in their childhood when they took a particularly memorable tumble or fall.
“so when do you think the best time to have been checked by a chiropractor?”
They usually have an ‘aha!’ moment and realize that years and years ago would have been optimal, but they did not know any better.
When you create a population of informed patients, you can start to really see changes in the overall health and consciousness of a community. There is no better time to see a chiropractor than before a problem starts to express itself outwardly as a symptom or disease. Children are born perfect and healthy, with few exceptions, and it is an accumulation of little traumas that alter them from this blissful state.
Since children grow so quickly, they also adapt remarkably quickly. You can see dramatic returns to their natural health-expressing state in far fewer visits than would be necessary for an adult. When your child goes through a new developmental milestone, it is a good time to get them checked for subluxation. Maintaining their spinal health through periodic ‘wellness checks’ allows Dr Courtney to correct subluxations before they manifest as dis-ease of the body.
Many parents find that with regular chiropractic care and a healthy lifestyle their children have:
more focused energy
better sleep patterns
fewer sick days
faster recovery
Chiropractors learn to adapt their technique for a younger patient; it is much different that the adjustment an adult would receive.
Dr Courtney has post-graduate training in pediatric chiropractic care, and has adjusted thousands of children (as young as 1 day old) while serving ChiroMissions in the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Dr Courtney loves the energy children bring to Gray Matter Chiropractic, and one of her biggest sources of pride is when parents tell her that they caught their little one ‘adjusting’ their toys/dolls at home.
